It has taken me a while to respond, since I've been thinking about my answer since I saw this posted because I'm not really clear on the point of the chat... 1. I might be interested, depending on how it's set up/what it's for.2. I'm not sure what "all the questions being asked" means, I'll admit I'm a little confused about the purpose.3. I think a little window of to the side is okay. If we're doing a chat feature, I think it would be helpful for things like trades, planning TSBs, gift exchanges, etc. Any time two people are sending messages back and forth, the inbox can get a little annoying. If there was an instant chat back and forth, that would be much easier. However, if BT is thinking about implementing a new feature, I think a mobile platform would be better than a chat feature right now. It's been increasingly frustrating trying to access BT on my phone, and that is something I know I would very frequently.

If I may add some late input. Not sure this is the right thread, but here goes: The upside of this forum is it's openess to everybody. This is a Beauty board open to the public, and not an exclusive Sephora Rewards members. I appreciate that. The downside of this openess is clutter and chaos. I am sure moderation is a challenge - not just of new posters and spam, but all posters alike. To that end: 1. It would be nice to see two display options. One that shows only "Subscribed" threads (or in some way marked as "interested" threads), and another option that shows the whole board. Seeing just the threads that interest us would be a huge relief. I know I would like that. Drama, thread spam, and clutter can easily be avoided (if one so chooses). Sometimes it can be difficult to find a beauty/skincare thread on the Sephora forum until page 3. The display option to see the entire board would allow us to participate in new threads. And it would allow us to add new threads to our "interested thread" list. 2. An "ignore" feature would be VERY convenient. Please. The choice to ignore both a user and/or a thread. See #1 about clutter, drama, and spam.

Hey Mods! I appreciated answering your questions, and really felt like there were lots of opportunities for us to express our loves and concerns about BT. You had planned to meet with some Bay-area BTers, which is great, but I was hoping you could touch base with us to let us know 1. If that happened and 2.If there are any plans moving forward that we can keep an eye out for. For example, do you guys have an end-goal for implementing some changes (a BT relaunch?), if so it would be so great to hear about, at least, how that process is going. I've been around BT for a number of years and have witnessed both the site, the BTers, and the mods go through some growing pains. I am excited that there is mod/company interest in getting to an even better place for users, and am super thrilled to be part of the group asked to chime in.Thanks!Stacey

Why would you want to join a group on BeautyTalk? I assuming if there were to be groups?.. That I would join a group if it were to serve the same purpose as a thread but maybe have it be more centralized? When you’re looking at your group, what's the first thing you want to see? I’m really not sure as I would need to see the formatting. I would assume it would be a posting based format. Would you expect to receive notifications from your group? If so, what would you want to be notified about? Similar to posting, I would want to be notified of new posts to the group. Would you want to post in groups you haven’t joined, even if you don’t plan to join? No, I would probably only want the option to post in groups I joined. Otherwise what is the purpose of having a group in the first place. How would you feel if BeautyTalkers were posting in your group and they hadn’t joined? Probably the same answer as before.

Do you currently use the “Add Friend” functionality? Yes, but I only recently started using it. What are the reasons you would friend another user on BeautyTalk? I only added friends for those who I post often with, see on fellow posts, or who I consider just plain friends. Are you familiar with your current list of friends? Is that something you monitor closely? No, it is something I monitor nor keep track of closely. Do you look at other users’ BeautyTalk profiles? Sometimes but not as often as I should. What do you look for when you are viewing someone’s BeautyTalk profile? I have found a lot of people don’t fill out their “About me” page and I find this really disappointing. It ends up making me not wanting to check other BT posters since so many people do not fill out this page.

How do you feel about the current ranking system on BeautyTalk? While I like it, I wish there were maybe badges above VIB Rouge. Maybe for those who post often, sign on often, etc? Do you like seeing others’ badges and having your badge displayed? Yes, absolutely. What does it mean to be a Hall of Famer? Someone who has 500+ hearts. Do you find the rankings valuable? Yes, I do. I know if nothing else they are used as criteria for TSB boxes. Why do you use hearts on BeautyTalk? If you do not use hearts please explain. I like to always share the love with hearts on Beauty Talk. I try to always give hearts to posts I like. Do you monitor the number of hearts you or other users have? While I do monitor my own hearts, I do not monitor others. I like to see if others have liked my posts. It makes me happy!

What do you want to see on the BeautyTalk homepage? I’m fine as it currently is with the trending posts. What information do you want to see right when you log onto BeautyTalk? Same as #1 What do you currently find yourself digging for? To be honest, the current format of Beauty Talk all but supports digging. If you are not 100% on top of new posts and the trending posts of the day, it is completely overwhelming to know what was posted while you were not on the boards. There is really no current way to find things in large threads except going back by page which is extremely tedious/tiresome. How would you want to filter to find relevant content? How would you define “relevant content?” As I stated in the last topic thread, I sincerely wish the search function was more reliable and easier to use. It is basically unusable in its current state. If I was able to actually specify where and what in a thread I was looking for I might be better able to locate information in the future. What is your favorite thread in BeautyTalk and why? “Deals too good to pass up,” is my fav thread. I like that it is constantly moving and it has extremely useful information. I am also super impressed that Sephora allows its users to share about other retailers on Beauty Talk. I find this extremely impressive and it was one of the things that made me more of a return shopper to Sephora in the long run. What is the most important information that you look for when using Beauty talk? New and relevant… does this information assist me in learning or broadening my horizon about beauty?Sharing with others.. I love sharing my love of beauty with others and have gained my friends on the BT boards through doing this. If you can't find the information that you are looking for, how do you find it? See answers above What do you use Beauty Talk for besides looking for information? Sharing with friends I’ve made on Beauty Talk 🙂Reviews of products

Welcome to Sephora’s BeautyTalk Welcome to BeautyTalk! Here, you can ask for advice, chat about your beauty experiences, and exchange ideas, tips, information, and techniques with fellow Sephora addicts. To participate in the BeautyTalk community, all you need to do is be a registered user of Sephora.com. It’s totally free and easy, we promise. When interacting on BeautyTalk, please follow our User Guidelines,
What is BeautyTalk and how does it work?
BeautyTalk is an online community. It is a place for discussion, asking questions, and sharing experiences. Users can post questions and answers to problems they have been encountering, search for advice, and even talk about their favorite subject with others that share the same interests.
A little forums history: Because online communities feature questions, answers and feedback provided by their own users, they are unique knowledge hotspots that have the potential to reach hundreds and thousands of people at any given time.
While anyone can search the Beauty Talk for information, only registered users can post new questions, answers, or comments. Additionally, members can track discussions and even receive notifications whenever new posts are made.
Keep the following common-sense rules when participating in Beauty Talk discussions. Be nice. Sephora’s Beauty Talk involves participants with a wide range of beliefs and ideas about the subjects they’re discussing. We encourage an open dialogue, but require that participants remain courteous and respectful at all times. Please avoid any language that is abusive, intimidating, or discriminatory. This includes having a tone that is consistently critical, derogatory, or otherwise negative toward other clients. If we see any of the above, we will exercise our right to edit or remove any post that violates these guidelines. We can also limit or suspend the access of any participant who violates these guidelines. Have good etiquette. When posting messages, please remember that the people who read them sometimes can’t tell what you meant to say or how you intended to say it. Avoid “screaming” your thoughts in ALL CAPITAL letters. And remember that people that may not know you will read your comments. If you think your comments could be misinterpreted, they probably will be. If you think someone has misunderstood you, or has challenged your position, address it calmly in a non-threatening manner. Your moderator will be able to help, but it’s always best for the participants to work it out. Keep the peace! Additionally, while we do not set formal limits on how much you can post, voluminous posting—whether in terms of number of posts or their length—can majorly interfere with other conversations. There's room here for many points of view, so don't feel like you need to have the last word.
What is my role in the online community?
Everyone is essential in an online community. Without you, there wouldn’t be a community. By visiting often (and participating) you not only add to the user-created knowledge base, but you also encourage others to do the same. (Trendsetter!) If you come with your toughest beauty issues, you’ll probably be able to find someone else that has the same problem or can point you in the right direction. Then if you’re able to find a solution that works for you, you can add your own insights and experience. Chances are that you may have an answer that someone else has been seeking. Everyone wins.
Remember that online communities should be fun, friendly, informative, and appropriate for everyone.
Privacy. BeautyTalk is a public forum widely accessible on the Internet. Whenever participating in any online community, always remember that what you post is viewable by the general public. Please do not post any confidential or potentially embarrassing information about yourself or anyone else. Posting someone else's confidential information will result in the termination of your access to these services. Information that you should never post includes the following:
Your full nameYour telephone numberYour mailing addressYour credit card number(s)Your social security numberYour Beauty Insider numberOrder numbersOther receipt information Personal email address
As a registered BeautyTalk user, you get to decide what content you include in your Profile, and who gets to see it. Please familiarize yourself with these settings, located in the “ My Profile” area.
