Face/eye cream to prevent wrinkles in the future for a teen

I am 19 and starting to get serious about taking really good care of my skin. I want to use products that will make my skin look healthy now and will help reduce aging problems in the future. There is so much out there to choose from and it seems as if there is so much anti-aging stuff for people who are older, but nothing really for younger people who want to prevent or slow down the aging process.

I am very fair, although my skin isn't particularly sensitive. I would say that I have normal/combination skin but I definitely lean more towards the oily side, especially my nose and forehead a couple hours into the day. I am generally good about wearing sunscreen since I spend a lot of time walking outside around my college campus, although the Neutrogena sheer is usually what I use and even it is a little too thick and oily for my liking.

I am currently really into Philosophy products and really like the Purity Cleanser for washing my face. I use a nondescript moisturizer that is so-so. I am thinking that I am going to switch to Philosophy's Hope in a Jar and see how I like that instead. That, or Benefit's Total Moisture Cream. I want to use a cream under my eye, but I'm not really sure where to start looking. Benefit makes an cream, and I've seen one that may be good- Imortelle eye cream by L'Occitaine. I just don't really know where to go from here!

A few other things-- what about face exfoliaters or masks once a week, and toners? Are those good options for me? I don't want to over-product my face but I want to make sure to cover all of the bases. Sorry for the long story and thanks so much!

Hi, elizabethlw.  It's great that you want to start takin...

Hi, elizabethlw.  It's great that you want to start taking care of your skin at an early age!  Your skin will thank you for it when you get on in years.  Wearing a sunscreen, like you're doing, is excellent and very important in preventing pre-mature aging and skin cancer, etc.  If the Neutrogena you're using is a little too greasy and heavy for your oily/combo skin type then I'd try (one of my favorite sunscreens) Kate Somerville Protect SPF 55 Serum Sunscreen which is a quick-absorbing, oil free formula that delivers powerful UV protection with its SPF 55.  It is a mild, water-resistant sunscreen that includes broad-spectrum, UVA/UVB sun protection without any white residue, greasiness or stickiness. This complexion care essential offers a rich dose of antioxidants for further protection against damage and premature aging.  This sunscreen is paraben-free and is ideal for daily use for all skin types, including oily and problematic skin.  You can find it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P238608&categoryId=B70

You should keep your skincare routine simple, yet effective.  Problems can arise from using too many products or what my dermatologist likes to call product-overload.  A great, all natural, soap free cleanser you should try is Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser which you can find here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12978&categoryId=B70

I know of a great anti-aging product designed specifically for the needs of younger women that I wanted to let you know about, too.

Clarins Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream – All Skin Types is a skincare treatment specifically designed for younger women (in their 20s and 30s) that not only prevents, but visibly corrects early signs of aging.  This product helps to keep imperfections at bay with its dermal-epidermal junction repair and radiance-boosting action.  It reinforces your skin with directly delivered, continuous antioxidant defense, plus this it delivers corrective and enhancing skin benefits.  It has been dermatologist-tested and is non-comedogenic so it won't cause breakouts.  You can read all about it here:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P242915&categoryId=B70

I hope this helps you.  🙂

As for the eye cream when I was your age(or 18... Forgot...

As for the eye cream when I was your age(or 18... Forgot when I started using the product) I started using http://www.sephora.com/browse/productively?Id=P264613&categoryId=B70 Korres Oak Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream. I noticed it worked better for me than other products and the best way to avoid wrinkles is to prevent them! It absorbs quickly and is really light so you don't even notice its on.

As for a mask/exfoliator I use Ole Henriksen blue/black berry enzyme mask http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P113608&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5674  instead of scrubbing at your skin to get rid of the dead cells the enzymes eat away at them while you wear the mask for about20 minutes. Great way to avoid the occasional red face that is a tale tell ofover scrubbing! I also use the Boscia us Black Mask  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P266800&categoryId=C16701 which helps to clear pores and makes the skin incredibly soft! Love this mask!. I don't use both at once, I'll use one one week then the other the next week.

As for toner I picked up the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and fell in love with it! Also helps tokeep makeup in place when sprayed after. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P174226&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4171  caudalie's face wash is also awesome! I use to use purity until I tried this stuff! lol

Also they say it's ideal to start wrinkle prevention inyour early 20's to prevent future wear and tear. So congrats on being ahead on the game!! Hope this all helps lol
